Hyaluronidase can precisely hydrolyse hyaluronic acid, and is used to correct overfilling, nodules or vascular occlusion.

The main active ingredient of hyaluronidase is hyaluronidase, a biological enzyme that specifically hydrolyses the glycosidic bonds in hyaluronic acid, breaking it down into low-molecular-weight oligosaccharides that are then cleared by the body’s natural metabolism. It is like a precise “biological key”, dedicated to breaking down hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronidase can dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvéderm, Restylane, Teosyal, Belotero and others), regardless of the degree of cross-linking. It cannot, however, dissolve non-hyaluronic acid products such as poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra), calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse), polycaprolactone (Ellansé) or silicone.
Some injectables claimed to solve a “pillow face” may in fact be fat-dissolving injections. Fat-dissolving injections target fat cells and must never be used to solve a hyaluronic acid filler problem. If the pillow face is caused by excess hyaluronic acid, hyaluronidase should be used; if the cause is fat or another material, a completely different plan is needed. Using fat-dissolving injections wrongly for a hyaluronic acid problem is not only ineffective, but may lead to tissue damage, hollows and other serious consequences. A doctor must diagnose accurately and treat the actual cause.
Doctors can achieve “partial dissolving” by precisely controlling dose, concentration and layer — for example, using a small amount of low-concentration hyaluronidase as dotted injections, having the client sit up several times during the process to observe and compare, aiming to “refine” rather than “completely remove”.
Hyaluronidase provides reversibility and a safety net for filler treatments. This procedure is a medical act and must be performed by a qualified doctor.
